Office Staff

Our office staff has been chosen for their professionalism and for their genuine concern for our patients. Patient care is our first priority, and our staff members undergo frequent instruction to improve their skill on your behalf. They are available to assist you with any questions you may have concerning our office policies, your treatment, insurance, or financial information.

Appointments

Patients are seen by appointment only. Appointments can be made by calling during regular office hours. If you find it necessary to change an appointment, please contact the office at least 24 hours in advance. This courtesy enables us to schedule other patients needing prompt treatment.

If your physician has requested an Initial Consultation, it will take approximately 45-60 minutes, during which time the Neurologist will discuss your history and perform a complete neurological examination. He will then discuss with you his findings, his impressions, and possible further testing and treatment. In some cases, you physician will request testing only, without full consultation. The time will vary between 30 and 90 minutes, and charges will vary according to the testing necessary. Please inform us if you are being seen due to workman's compensation or automobile accident. Please bring the following items to your first appointment:

  • Your insurance card
  • Physician referral forms
  • A list of current prescription or over-the-counter medications you are taking, including dose and frequency
  • Pertinent information about your medical and surgical history.
  • Any recent x-rays or appropriate records you may have.
  • The following new patient forms
    • Patient Information Form
    • Patient History Form

At the time you make your initial appointment you will be mailed a confirmation of your appointment with a reminder of what to bring with you. You will also receive the New Patient forms, or you can download and print out our forms from the links below.

Emergencies

If you have an emergency, please call the office telephone number, 301.694.0900. The secretary or the answering service will contact the doctor on call with your message. In the case of an extreme emergency, go directly to the hospital emergency room, where a physician is immediately available at all times. There, treatment may be started, and we will be called if necessary.

Prescription Refills

Please call for prescription refills during regular office hours. Have available the name of the medication, dosage schedule, prescription number and the name and phone number of your pharmacy when you call. Please allow at least 24 hours for refills. We do not authorize refills after usual office hours.

Financial Policies

Fees in this office are comparable to those charged by board certified neurologists in this area. We ask that office charges be paid at the time the service is rendered to keep administrative costs, and subsequent increased fees, to a minimum. We participate in Medicare. We participate in some insurance plans, such as Blue Cross and MD-IPA. For expensive testing such as electromyography, we ask as least partial payment at the time service is performed.

Office charge slips are designed so that one copy may be attached to your insurance form and be mailed to your company directly. You may then be reimbursed in accordance with your policy. Please keep in mind that our office visits are not covered by many policies.

Outstanding bills are due within 30 days of receipt of your statement. Please discuss with us or our staff any financial difficulties that may arise, as soon as you recognize them.

Managed Care Referral Policy
It is unfortunate that HMO's and other managed care companies have implemented policies that inconvenience both the patient and the physician; however, we must follow the rules. If an authorized referral is necessary for any treatment, it is the patient's responsibility to have all the necessary forms at the time of the visit. It is our policy that if a referral is not available at the time of the visit and you wish to be seen, then we will ask for a check or credit card imprint. If the referral is later obtained then the check or credit card slip will be destroyed. If this is not acceptable then you may choose to reschedule until the referral is available. Physician referrals may be faxed directly to our office at 301.694.0657.
